Fauna
Wirrimbirra is not a Zoo - it is a wild life
refuge.
The 30 animals at Wirrimbirra, particularly those
in the walk-through Fauna Protection Area (FPA), are generally used to people -
but they are not trained, nor do we encourage hand feeding. There are
wombats, emus, eastern grey kangaroos,
red neck, tammar and swamp wallabies. The FPA is a secure environment,
fenced to keep predators at bay. Inside the FPA is a large bird aviary
that houses the Tawnies, King parrots, a pied imperial-pigeon and a brown cuckoo
dove at the moment. More birds
will he added soon. Another smaller aviary is home to "Bye Bye" & friend - two sulphur crested cockatoos. Entry is by gold coin
donation - it helps us pay some of their feed and vet bills.

information about the species we have - their habits, where and how they usually
live in the wild and some wonderful photographs taken by Sue.
